BJP state president and MLA Dr K Laxman said Bhagavadgita is not a religious scripture but is a book of Dharma.

Speaking at the Geeta Jayanthi programme organised under the aegis of the Bhagavadgita Foundation, he said Gita teaches how to live a purposeful life. He complemented Bhagavadgita Foundation founder president Gangadhara Sastry for trying to bring Gita closer to the people.

In his speech Telangana Government’s special representative at Delhi Dr Samudrala Venugopalachary said he would make efforts to impress upon Chief Minister KCR on the need to introduce Bhagavadgita in the academic curriculam. Ambarpet MLA G Kishan Reddy said Bhagavadgita motivates people to live the life in the best possible manner and lauded Sharma for his efforts.

The Geeta Jayanthi festivities were organised at Tyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpalli on Saturday. Earlier, procession was organised from teh Chikkadapalli Venkateswara Temple to Gana Sabha. The procession was flagged off by Dr K Laxman.

Pushpagiri seer Sri Vidyanrusimha Bharathi exhorted everyone to readh Bhagavad Gita. The logo of the English version of Bhagavad Gita was inaugurated by BR Naidu, chaiperson of TV 5.
