‘Babu Baaga Busy’, remake of Hindi film ‘Hunter’ has released today. Starring Srinivas Avasarala, Misthi Chakravarthy and others, the film created good buzz prior to its release. Let us see how the film fared.

The film revolved around the life of Madhav (Srinivas Avasarala), a sex addict. He has a lot of affairs in life but finally decided to settle down with Radha(Misthi). But, his past doesn’t leave him and creates many hurdles. The rest of the story is all about how Madhav solves his problems and marries Radha.

Though Srinivas Avasarala tries to carry the film on his shoulders with his comedy timing, he does not fit the bill. His soft image makes him unacceptable in this film. Sreemukhi is good in her small role and Mishti is passable.

Adarsh Balakrishna was just okay and Supriya looked pretty and may attract a section of audience. Post interval, it was her track which engaged the audience to some extent. There are some scenes targeted for youth audience and they work out well.

The film would have been good if it was a faithful remake of ‘Hunter’. But, BBB did not have that emotional touch from the original. Adult comedy genre should be dealt either sensuously or in a comic way. But, the film tried to strike a balance between both which failed badly. Too many subplots play the spoilsport in this flick.

The protagonist’s character is not established properly and people find it tough to accept the main character as a sex addict. Avasarala’s soft image turned out as a bane of this film as he looked completely out of place.

The narration is very bad that audience get bored after sometime. Tejaswi Madivada gets a tiny role which is of no use to the film as well as her career. The first half is pretty dragging while the climax is wrapped up in a hurry.

There are plenty songs in this film though they do not act as hindrances. The background score is horrible and the editing is okay though many scenes could have been chopped off. The production values and the camera work are fine and dialogues were mediocre. It is good not to talk about the screenplay of the film.

Director Navven failed to write a gripping and entertaining screenplay for this remake. Lack of emotions and realistic approach made this film look quite silly. His direction is below par and tried to pull off the film with routine comedy.

‘Baabu Baaga Busy’ missed a good opportunity as Telugu audience started to accept films of different genres. The film neither had adult content nor the required comedy. Though some scenes will be garnered by youth, the film fails to entertain on the whole.

As the viewers are still in the hangover of ‘Baahubali’, wonder what BBB’s box-office fate could be?
