Indian boxer, Amit Panghal won in the 49-kg boxing round, beating his opponent, who is the reigning Olympic champion Hasanboy Dusmatov of Uzbekistan at the Asian Games in Jakarta on Saturday, 1.9.2018.

The 22-year-old Indian boxer, who is an armyman, hailing from Haryana did his country proud on Saturday. He did not lose his nerve but kept landing his punches and finally won the only gold for India in the boxing category by a 3-2 margin.

Last year, Panhgal had lost to the World Number 1, Dusmatov in a close quarter-final contest in the Hamburg World Championships. Dustamov was also voted the best male boxer at the Rio Olympics in 2016, where he had clinched the gold in the light flyweight category.

To his credit the young Indian boxer, Amit also has a silver in the Commonwealth Games.
Earlier this year, he also won gold medals at the inaugural India Open and the prestigious Strandja memorial in Bulgaria.
