Tragedy strikes in Jagtial: 52 die in bus accident

In one of the deadliest of road accidents, an overcrowded TSRTC bus carrying almost 80 passengers fell into a gorge after the brakes failed, causing death of 52 passengers in Jagtial of Karimnagar district.

The accident happened between 11.45 am and noon,on 11.9.2018, Tuesday. All the passengers were reportedly pilgrims who were on their way to Jagtial town after visiting the famous Anjaneya Swamy temple in Kondagattu.

The extent of the tragedy left rescuers aghast. Nearly 36 women and 7 children died in this major tragedy. The Jagtial district collector A Sharat, is supervising the relief and rescue work. Transport Minister Mahender Reddy also rushed to Jagtial and the state government announced relief of 5 lakh rupees for the kin of deceased.

Meanwhile locals blamed the horrible condition of roads for the accident. They were the first to reach the accident site and to rescue the injured.
