Bellary’s infamous mining baron and minister in BJP government in Karnataka, G.Janardhan Reddy was arrested by Central Crime Branch, in Bangalore along with his aide Ali Khan in a bribery case today. He was remanded to judicial custody till November 24th.
Janardhan Reddy was charged under Sections 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The owner of Ambident Group, involved in duping investors of Rs 600-crores has alleged that Janardhan Reddy as minister in Karnataka’s BS Yeddyurappa-led BJP government had demanded Rs 18 crore to bail him out of the grip of Enforcement Directorate. The money was converted to 57 kg of gold and handed over to his aide, Ali Khan.
“We have taken the decision to arrest him on the basis of credible evidence and witnesses’ statements,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar. It is believed that there are photos linking the mining mogul with the case.
