Carnatic singer Krishna’s concert cancelled

The army of trolls are at it again. This time by unleashing their regular overdose of vitriol on the social media they managed to have their way as always. The target  now was legendary Carnatic singer, Magsaysay awardee,T.M.Krishna whose program on November 17th 2018  got indefinitely postponed due to “some exigency.”

Krishna’s concert was to be part of a two-day festival at Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri organised by the airports authority of India(AAI) and the Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC-MACAY).

Trolls call Krishna “anti-India musician”

Internet trolls accused the airport authority  of using public funds to sponsor an “anti-India” musician, calling him  a “converted bigot” and an “urban Naxal” who sang about Jesus and Allah. The trolls also tagged Minister of Railways, Coal and Corporate Affairs Piyush Goel and Minister of Civil Aviation Suresh Prabhu in their tweets.

“We just can’t let ourselves be cowed down by this kind of threats,” was the singer’s response to the incident. He gave his readiness to perform anywhere in Delhi on November 21st.
