Liquor sales has been increased abnormally in Andhra Pradesh. Ahead of assembly elections, the political parties are vying to buy liquor in bulk and stock them in advance. These liquor stocks will be used to distribute the voters during election season.
The rough estimates said that in February month alone, total liquor sales was Rs 500 crore more than the routine sales. 27 lakh cases of beer and 33 lakh cases of whisky was sold from the licenced liquor shops.
Officials said that the ruling party leaders are buying huge quantity of liquor and stored them in their party workers residences . After the enforcement of election code, the purchase of liquor in bulk is not possible.
