‘Chitralahari’ Review

Mega Hero Sai Dharam Tej whose previous outing ‘Tej I Love You’ also ended up as a disaster at the box office is all set to test his luck with his upcoming film ‘Chitralahari’. Touted to be a romantic entertainer, Kishore Tirumala of ‘Nenu Sailaja’ fame helmed this project. With Nivetha Pethuraj and Kalyani Priyadarshan as the leading ladies, Mythri Movie Makers bankrolled this project.

Devi Sri Prasad composed tunes for the film. Amid decent expectations, the movie has finally hit the screens today on April 12th, 2019. Sai Dharam Tej has pinned all his hopes on this film. Let’s see if the actor can score a hit at least this time or not.

Vijay (Sai Tej) considers himself as the most unlucky guy in the entire world. He is an engineering graduate and develops an app about accident control. But none of the companies will come forward to give him an opportunity.

After facing so many rejections, disappointed Vijay will join in a small job in a TV service center. He meets Lahari (Kalyani Priyadarshan) and falls in love with her. He considers that Lahari is the only ray of hope in his entire life. With the entry of Nivetha Pethuraj character, the story takes a major twist and Lahari dumps Vijay. What will Vijay do now? Can he succeed in reclaiming his love? Forms the crux of the story.

Sai Dharam Tej has not only came up with a different kind of character in the movie but also presented it in an impressive way. His energetic performance will definitely engage the audience. Both Nivetha Pethuraj and Kalyani Priyadarshan justified their roles. They not only looked beautiful on the screens but also will steal attention with their honest performances. Their chemistry with Tej worked out well.

Sunil played the sidekick of Sai Dharam Tej in the film and did a convincing job. Vennela Kishore did an interesting role in the film and will definitely make the audience laugh. Posani Krishna Murali’s performance added more strength for the film. Brahmaji and Jayaprakash justified their characters. The rest of the actors made their presence felt.

Kishore Tirumala has a unique way of storytelling and his interesting way of narration never fails to impress the audience. Unlike the regular movies which show the hero character as strong and successful, Kishore Tirumala has tried out something entirely new and succeeded in impressing the audience.

Production values by Mythri Movie Makers are very high and it is evident that producers have invested decent amounts without compromising in terms of quality of the movie. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is considered as one of the biggest plus points for the film. His BGM is just average but some songs have been receiving a positive response from the audience. Karthik Ghattamaneni’s cinematography is good. Editing by A Sreekar Prasad could have been better.

The movie starts off on a subtle and interesting note. The entire first half is fun filled with a lot of comedy as well as romance. The chemistry between Sai Dharam Tej and Kalyani Priyadarshan is showcased well and also the comedy in the first half is really good. But the second half turns out to be very heavy and the pace of narration falls down which irks the audience.

The second half runs very slowly with some boring sequences and the climax is somewhat better. On the whole, ‘Chitralahari’ is a good entertainer and some of the youth can really connect well with the film.
