Accusing the Prime Minister of misleading the country on the issue of Sabarimala, the Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan raised objection to the former’s remark in an election rally on Saturday, 13.4.2019 that people have been jailed for chanting Ayyappa’s name in the state.
Addressing people in Kollam, the Chief Minister raised objection to this and called it an utter lie, saying, “How can a Prime Minister make such a wrong remark? If anyone was arrested, it was because they have gone against the law. In other states, Sangh Parivar activists may not land in jail or there may not be any cases against them, thanks to the blessings of Modi. But that will not happen in Kerala.”
It must be recalled that only after the Supreme court passed the landmark judgement that women devotees have equal right to enter and pray in Sabarimala that the state government tried to facilitate the entry of women in the temple, thus triggering a RSS and BJP -led violent agitation in the state.
