“No school-bag  day” proposed by Jagan on Saturdays

A piece of good news for the children of Andhra Pradesh came in the form of their new Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy proposing to reduce the weight of school bags by increasing the provision of storing books in the schools. Also the idea of not carrying school bags on Saturdays was mooted. Instead  Saturdays should be devoted to sports, fun activities like story-telling, art etc, he believed.

The policy which was implemented in some  government schools was not very popular with parents and tteachers as innovative ways of learning was not practiced. Instead it increased the room for criticizing schools as studies were  perceived to suffer while students played  games.

The changes will soon be discussed before further planning said the Principal Secretary for School education, Aditya Nath Das.
