Andhra Pradesh State Arya-Vysya Corporation chairman Kuppam Prasad said that Arya-Vysyas were benefited during YS Rajasekhar Reddy regime and now his son and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had kept the promise made to them by establishing the corporation within one year of coming to power.
Speaking to the media here on Saturday, he said the Chief Minister gave them recognition by giving Velampalli Srinivas a ministerial berth and later setting up the corporation for them and allocating Rs 50 crore to it. He thanked the Chief Minister for helping several poor people belonging to the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Arya-Vysya Mahasabha president Mukkamala Dwarakanath said it was possible to create history only to the famiy members of YSR. He said so far no Chief Minister had given a ministerial berth to a Vysya and Jagan Mohan Reddy was benevolent enough to do that. It was only during YS Rajasekhar Reddy and K Rosaiah’s regime that Vysayas were given the sole right to perform the rituals in Vasavi kanyakaparameswari Devasthanams.
In this connection, Mukkamala said that Chandrababu Naidu deceived them by not setting up a corporation for them despite making a promise. But that dream of the Vysyas has been fulfilled by Jagan Mohan Reddy who allocated Rs 50 crore to the corporation which he established for them. Moreover, the Chief Minister has accepted their request to name Nellore district after Potti Sriramulu who sacrificed his life for the sake of AP statehood.
