Party workers kidnap minister’s PA

The case of AIADMK activists kidnapping the PA of a minister, who belongs to AIADMK, is creating quite a sensation in Tamil Nadu these days. In a shocking incident, seven workers have kidnapped Karnan, the PA of Tamil Nadu animal husbandry minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan. The PA has later been released, but the police went hammer and tongs in this case and arrested seven persons.

To their surprise, all the seven persons, who were nabbed, were found to be associated with the ruling AIADMK. The arrested persons have been identified as AIADM leaders Pradeep, Arun Kumar, Sundaresan, Devaraju, Taka, Vinod and Selva Ganapathi. Another person, identified as Raghu, who is said to be the kingpin, is on the run. Efforts are on to arrest him.

The police said that the AIADMK workers had come to know that Karnan has recently sold his house and had several lakhs of rupees with him. They planned to kidnap Karnan for ransom. After kidnapping, they demanded Karnan to pay Rs 10 lakh to them. However, Karnan haggled with them and finally settled at Rs 50000. They released him on payment of the amount. Soon after this, the police raided their hideout and arrested seven persons. They are on the lookout for the other absconding man.
