Vangaveeti is inspired by the lives of Vangaveeti and Devineni families in Vijayawada and it deals with events that lead to the assassination of Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga. The movie showcases the brutal murders that took place in Vijayawada between 1970 to 1990.The film begins with the introduction of CPI leader Chalasani Venkataratnam. Vangaveeti Radha (Sandy) is a small rowdy in Vijayawada and with the help of Chalasani, he grew  to a big power. This develops differences between Radha and Venkataratnam. Later, Radha kills Venkataratnam. From the emergence of Vangaveeti Ranga to the demise of Ranga in Vijaywada is what RGV aims to showcase it in the movie.

Young actor Sandeep is brilliant in the roles of Radha and Ranga. He is very effective and shown perfect expressions as a rowdy and politician. He has a bright future in the industry.

Naina Ganguly as Ranga’s wife is good and did justice to her role. Happy days fame Vamsi Krishna as Devineni Murali perfectly fits into the role. Others have performed according to their roles.  The movie has good production values and background score, picturisation and recreation of 70’s 80’s ambiance are the attractions on the technical front, add the audience.

While promoting the film, RGV said he did a lot of research but he completely failed to showcase them on the screen and he has just detailed the brutal murders of Venkata Ratnam, Radha, Gandhi, Murali and Ranga. There is nothing new in the film. RGV has taken any sides and he should have narrated some interesting elements rather the same stories that are public aware of.

The way RGV handles the camera is brilliant and he perfectly knows where to put the camera. But the film looks like a documentary and RGV’s voiceover also disrupts the flow of the movie. All the murders have been showcased extremely well. First half is gripping and interval block is also very good. But the second half slows. Though the background score is good, it reminds of his earlier films. There is too much of violence and bloodshed in the film.

Overall, Vangaveeti is a average fair.
